In the most promising news to date in relation to the renewal of the Moama Police Station, The Hon. David Elliot MP, NSW Minister for Police and Emergency Services has indicated “NSW Police have identified the Moama Police Station as a priority for the 2020/2021 financial year. The Business case for this project is in train.”
“We now have confirmation that the Minister is taking our calls for a new Police Station in Moama seriously. We look forward to working alongside NSW Police to ensure the development of plans for the new station keep moving ahead” stated C4EM Chairperson Geoff Kelly.
The most recent correspondence from the Minister comes as a result of sustained advocacy from the Committee for Echuca Moama supported by local Member for Murray Helen Dalton MP via meetings, correspondence and persistent ‘Questions on Notice’ to the NSW Police Minister.
“Policing infrastructure and adequate staffing are an important element within the strategic priorities of C4EM that include enabling infrastructure, building liveability and facilitating economic growth. The Moama region is vastly under resourced in comparison to Echuca and other regional areas, many of which are not experiencing the rate of growth witnessed by Moama. We will not rest until we are cutting the ribbon on the new station” commented C4EM Chief executive Nina O’Brien.
C4EM; in partnership with local stakeholders will continue to hold the NSW government accountable for the confirmation of the Moama Police Station project and confirmed funding into the new year.
