Scott Matthew

Board Member

Visy is a leader in Australian manufacturing, employing over 7,000 people across the manufacturing and transport sectors, with a strong focus on building a sustainable economy.

Scott is passionate about creating career opportunities in regional areas, developing the next generation of manufacturing experts, and ensuring that manufacturing remains strong in Australia for years to come.

He grew up in Melbourne, where he completed his schooling before starting an apprenticeship in the manufacturing sector.

With over 20 years of experience in manufacturing, Scott has have been fortunate to continue his education throughout his career. Scott completed a Diploma in Business Management, become Lean Manufacturing certified, and most recently, earned his MBA.

After completing his apprenticeship, Scott transitioned into a leadership role with Sealed Air Cryovac, where he gained extensive experience in operations and manufacturing management, holding key positions such as Production Manager, Operations Manager, and Site Manager.

In 2011, he had the opportunity to work in Qingpu, Shanghai, where he led the commissioning of a new manufacturing facility, gaining valuable international experience in large-scale operations and project execution.

In 2016, Scott spent time in the United States with Sealed Air, visiting over 10 manufacturing facilities. During this period, he played a pivotal role in process improvement initiatives, identifying best practices and bringing back key insights to enhance operations in Australia.

In 2018, Scott joined Visy, continuing his journey in senior manufacturing leadership. Today, he serves as the National Head of Operations for the Canning business, where he focuses on driving operational excellence, continuous improvement, and sustainability across Visy sites.
