Women and Leadership

by The CEO
February 18, 2019

Join us at the February ‘Get Connected’ networking lunch.

Nina O’Brien; current Chief Executive Officer of Committee for Echuca Moama will host a conversation about her reflections on leadership, and the important role it plays in regional communities.
Raised in the Mallee scrub of western South Australia where it never rained and the bus service out of town was only once a week, she is passionate about working in the regions to make them great places to work, live and be connected to the community. She will touch on her current and previous work in the community, cultural development and local government sectors, and a side-hustle as a practising photographic and public artist.

Join us for a good yarn, a bit of a laugh and a nice light lunch.

Get Connected – Echuca/Moama, was founded to provide like minded women an opportunity to share ideas, network and develop professional and personal skills. In a regional area, there are sometimes a lack of opportunity to develop and practice certain professional or personal skills. The group was created to provide a forum for women to share, mentor and network.
A forum for women to support other women locally to be the best they can be.
As Richard Branson said: “Succeeding in business is all about making connections.”

This year one achievement close to my heart has be This year one achievement close to my heart has been helping to coordinate our Dare to Dream project locally in Echuca Moama. Five young ladies talking about their own unique journeys and highlighting their perspectives on how we as a community can help support youth to connect with our businesses, community and as young leaders. Next year we will be launching our Dare to Dream video and providing opportunities for these awesome young people to present their stories to others and help raise awareness around mental health, culture, diversity and acceptance of others and providing insight into how you can support and learn from people with Autism providing them the same opportunities as others in our community. Thanks to @lance_picioane and @lovemeloveyoufoundation for supporting us through this project and providing opportunity for our crew to complete the Welfare Warrior program. Also thanks to @campaspeshire, @rightbytheriver, @campaspe_cohuna_llen & @moamabowlingclub for providing financial support for the project. Also thanks to Ben Hearn Campaspe Shire Council and Jason Clymo from @j2contentcreation for supporting the project.
These young ladies presented to our Christmas Celebration last week and they were amazing, even leaving some of our guests with a few tears. I absolutely love being able to provide these opportunities for our young people and encourage businesses, community groups and individuals to challenge yourselves and open up conversations. Provide our young people opportunities to give feedback, open up your boardroom to allow them to come and learn, make sure they are included in future consultation. They are our future leaders in our community and should have a voice and we should allow them to Dare to Dream. #community #opportunity #future #mentalhealth #diversity #culture #leader #echucamoama

Lest we forget…… Lest we forget……
Last Thursday C4EM hosted the Goulburn Murray Comm Last Thursday C4EM hosted the Goulburn Murray Community Leadership - Fairley Leadership cohort 2021 in Echuca. It was great to be able to showcase Echuca/Moama's community leaders and tell our story of challenges through Covid and promote our opportunities moving forward.
This event not only brought 20 leaders to our community, it supported our businesses with a dinner for 30 guests, 20 motel rooms for one night, 20 breakfasts in the morning at a local cafe and catering for a full day. This flow on of having events is an opportunity that will help support our local businesses when we can trade again. So I ask you the following questions, are you a business that may go to Melbourne for a gala dinner? Are you a business that has state/national meetings that you need to travel for? Are you a sporting club that may have a tournament? Why not ask the question and see if you can bring your meeting or event to us? WE have some amazing venues and really supportive Events Management staff that will help make your event the best it can be. We have amazing accommodation venues waiting to take bookings. We have amazing business minds in our community that will be ready to help support your event. While we are in lockdown, why not have a think about how you can bring an event to our community. Let's get behind our businesses, the support is here to make it happen, all you have to do is ask......

Great to take part today in the Engineers Solve Pr Great to take part today in the Engineers Solve Problems Industry day through CCLLEN. Giving four schools the opportunity to tour inside some of our local businesses to find out what roles are available and how students can link to industry. I was lucky enough to help host at Byfords Equipment in Moama. Well done team on the day. The students loved the VR welder which provided them the opportunity to actually weld through virtual reality. Great job Rory and Tim to facilitate the groups. See you all next year.
